Hypnotisante. Charismatique. Tout en bleu électrique, des pieds jusqu’aux lèvres, Christine Salem annonce la couleur. C’est aussi celle de ce concert rythmé par le maloya, la réunionnaise envoûte, attire l’œil sans aucun effort, impossible de détourner son regard. Oui, impossible. Voix grave et terriblement plaisante. Un timbre puissant et magnétique. Mais il n’y a pas seulement la voix. Christine Salem joue. Pas qu’avec l’attention, non, mais avec une maîtrise parfaite de ses instruments. À chaque fois. Premier jeu avec le kayamb, instrument tradi’ réunionnais, puis viens le deuxième avec l’harmonica, sans oublier, le troisième, le roulèr, énorme tambour que l’on joue assis et à deux mains, le quatrième, la guitare électrique et le cinquième, mais pas des moindres, les maracasses. Côté ambiance, la pluie retentit sur le toit de la salle Mendès France à Quétigny mais Christine Salem et de son crew visse le soleil et la chaleur réunionnaise à l’intérieur. Bam, le mauvais temps est oublié. C’est beau. Okay, de base être assis est obligatoire. De base, oui. La réalité c’est que les gens se lèvent et dansent. Comment faire autrement ? Sérieusement ? La danse est clairement instinctive à ce moment-là. La touche la plus folle, c’est le violon. Dingo à quel point un instrument seul peut ajouter autant de puissance et de légèreté à la fois. Ça rend dépendant. Christine Salem signe la fin du Tribu Festival 2k21 et on pouvait pas rêver mieux comme fin. Thanks. Los Forajidos de Raúl Monsalve ont, eux aussi, le syncrétisme foutrement guérisseur, sans doute pas un hasard s’ils se sont nommés les hors-la-loi, en trad française de forajidos. Dans la marge, ce set, complet braque des traditions afrolatines. Cumbia cramée, free jazz rôti et Afrobeat brûlé à point. Et en face, ça prend cher. Dès le rituel d’ouverture aux scansions autoritaires proférées par Lya Bonilla. Rien ne bronche, souffle coupé. Ok, voilà donc le meilleur concert du festival. Pleines de mini-tribunes vénères, de saillies free-funk en embuscade, les polyrythmies sont claires, c’est l’Afrique et l’Amérique du Sud qui déboulent à toute vapeur. Pas de fumée sans feu, le bouillon est toujours parfaitement contenu, et la voix de Lya Bonilla, a capella or not, mais fout des étincelles aux tympans et des poils au bras. Génialement allumée la banda pequeña de Raúl. Pyromane et fraternelle, le genre de vaccin qui agit contre tout vague à l’âme, file une immunité à vie. Soin. La procession est religieuse : les corps et les outils s’éparpillent, de part et d’autre, les frontières se brouillent entre musiciens et publics. La première pièce défile, transite subtilement entre plusieurs rythmes sans que les spectateurs s’en aperçoivent. Comme des vagues, les dialogues basse-batt’, les échanges entre les soufflants, se forment et se brisent. Du free au shuffle, les grooves mutent. Même chose entre la flûte et le sax : de petites phrases courtes et incisives qui se répètent. Le piano vrombit et forge l’essentiel de la masse sonore. Dernier son : un lancinant « When you say goodbye » de l’accordéoniste qui s’auto-charcute, dans une atmosphère plus solennelle. Pour ce qui devait être un râle sonore des plus bruyants, c’est plutôt calme, mesuré. Dosé serait le bon terme. C’est peut être ça (aussi) le free jazz : une concaténation, sans soubresauts, de paysages sonores multiples et uniques. Maybe that’s (also) what free jazz is: a concatenation, without jolts, of multiple and unique soundscapes. Ce set ne regimbe ni devant le lyrisme brutasse ni devant la finesse de ses obsessions. Encore moins devant les idées éparpillées pour redessiner un espace de jeu dont l’écoute tendue serait la seule règle entendable. Pour le reste ça bouscule, ça bousille le sens commun et revisite la tradition de l’interplay, bouscule un peu plus celles des petites cellules rythmiques et thématiques qu’on assemble pour faire du partagé. La chorégraphie de Faizal Mostrixx y développe une relation poétique, la tapisserie devient alors tantôt vivante et compagne, tantôt enveloppe maternelle. C’est une forteresse à ciel ouvert dans lequel le danseur se meut. Mais Africa2020, c’est aussi la musique. Un beat lourd, saccadé, réminiscence de polyphonies et de riffs percussifs. Présent dans Nanteza, ce rythme prolonge sa route en se logeant dans l’architecture sonore de Mafube. Teboho Mochaoa ‘Moreno Leraba’, prophète moderne costumé de bric-et-broc, draine la puissance de ce groove électronique et envoûte de sa voix chamanique. Transe. Viennent s’emboîter sur le groove électro-bassistique les motifs mélodiques du marimba, plus aériens. La voix de la chanteuse Iri Di tranche avec le côté terrestre du groupe et colore de façon délicate les échanges avec Mochaoa et les autres choristes masculins. Les corps s’animent, circulent, dansent, sourient. Africa2020 loge son beat lourd dans un gant de velours, sensible. Humain.
