12/10/7. Twelve musicians, 10 years of existence, 7 albums. These are the statistics of Initiative H at the release of ‘Polar Star’. That can force the respect, let us rather say that it forges a listening. The one that pushes to have a blow of advance on the envy of David Haudrechy, leader minimo of the combo. Humble, the man is it squarely. What allows to be impatient at the announcement of a new disc. ‘Polar Star’, is up to this impatience. For a star, it is necessary, and this one throws some nice sparks in its wake. Polar Star sounds like an OST of the worries induced by the climatic changes, like a rereading of the great preachers of the forces of the Nature. Cousteau for example, even if the neo big band Initiative H is less rolled in the flour than the man in the red hat. Not a shadow of a natural swindle here. ‘Crystal Trap’ invites the cosmos in the abysses to the sound of a splendid fragility and quasi Debussy, ‘Dark Lightning’ poses at the beginning of the disc its title ends credits, vibrating under the litany of the choruses and the soprano. Necessarily reductive, these two examples are in the image of the rest of the disc which acts under the surface, far from the crest of the foam, in the density of the inevitable future decisions.
12/10/7. Douze musiciens, 10 années d’existences, 7 albums. C’est les stats d’Initiative H à la sortie de Polar Star. Ça peut forcer le respect, disons plutôt que ça forge une écoute. Celle qui pousse à avoir un coup d’avance sur l’envie de David Haudrechy, leader minimo du combo. Humble, l’homme l’est carrément. Ce qui permet d’être impatient à l’annonce d’un nouveau disque. Polar Star, est à la hauteur de cette impatience. Pour un étoile, c’est nécessaire, et celle-ci balance de jolies étincelles à sa traine. Polar Star sonne comme une OST des inquiétudes induites par les changements climatiques, comme une relecture des grands prédicateurs des forces de la Nature. Cousteau par exemple, même si le néo big band Initiative H se roule moins dans la farine que l’homme au bonnet rouge. Pas l’ombre d’une escroquerie au naturel ici. Crystal Trap invite le cosmos dans les abysses au son d’une fragilité splendide et quasi debussyenne, Dark Lightning pose au début du disque ses ‘title ends credits’, vibrillonnant sous la litanies des choeurs et du soprano, prolongées plus sur Ice Breaker. Forcément réducteurs, ces deux exemples d’une suite musicale au cordeau sont à l’image du reste du disque qui agit sous la surface, loin de la crête de l’écume, dans la densité des futures décisions inévitables.
