Soit on vieillit, soit on a fini par s’attendrir, mais on arrive plus à se lasser de ce qu’on aime, c’est fâcheux. En 2020, on croisait Underground Canopy au hasard des rayons parisiens de Big Wax. Et on écrivait dans la foulée : « Jazz hip-hop pour l’étiquette, parfaitement laid-back pour l’énergie, définitivement recommandable comme musiciens de chevet ». Deux ans plus tard, sort cette live session et très bientôt une mixtape et le crush est intact. C’est fort, c’est fort et c’est beau. En 5 titres et 23’22, Séquences : live session trace la suite du premier EP sorti chez la même Menace. Plutôt douce, cette Menace. C’est parfait. Et Séquences de sonner toujours aussi clair, toujours à la croisée d’une séance studio 50’s et des productions actuelles. Soins des solos, discours clairs et jamais bavards, pas de démo, pas d’égotrip. On imagine juste le bonheur de petit bâtard qu’a eu l’ingé son à positionner ses micros au fil des prises. L’ensemble s’en trouve élargi, comme un réal’ élargirait une scène au grand angle en CinémaScope. Comme un Lamartine suspendrait le vol du temps perché sur un colline brumeuse, la mèche au front. Chez UC, la mèche est tout aussi rebelle, le son est bien suspendu mais penché au-dessus de la musique en train de s’inventer. Sans plus de façons. Aucune envie de se lasser de cela. C’est fort, c’est fort et c’est beau.
