Pour ne pas tomber dans la fosse à oubli, les morceaux du passé concluent parfois un marché avec les garants de leur avenir. Derya Yıldırım est l’une de ces gardiennes de mélodies. Un lien étroit avec la musique d’un côté, une identité germano-turque de l’autre. Et un Hey Dostum, çak ! (Tape m’en cinq !, ndlr) entre les deux partis : transmission assurée. Avec son acolyte de Grup Şimşek, Graham Mushnik, la chanteuse transforme comptines, chants folkloriques et tubes turques de son enfance en fil rouge de l’album, sorti sous le label Buback. L’écriture musicale minimaliste est d’une innocence contagieuse. Un adulte criant comme un gamin à l’arrivée d’un train pourrait être la conséquence d’un Tren Gelir (Le train arrive) trop écouté. Et voir ses parents applaudir après avoir chanté en playback sur Mini Mini Bir Kus (Un tout petit oiseau) est un simple mirage. Les moineaux existent, mais la kermesse de votre école est un temps révolu. Si cette page est difficile à tourner, celles de l’album défilent avec une simplicité passionnante. Comme une fable musicale, on rencontre dans les morceaux les mêmes animaux que ceux de la pochette. Une sorte de pyramide des musiciens de Brême, que l’on retrouve d’ailleurs dans le clip de la version originale d’Arkadaşım Eşek (mon ami l’âne), interprété par Barış Manço. Derrière la musique faussement naïve, l’interprète regrette son village et son ami l’âne qu’il a dû quitter. Une histoire d’identité que Derya Yıldırım et Graham Mushnik reprennent et s’approprient quelques années plus tard. Avec des sonorités nouvelles et une fraicheur inédite. Hey Dostum, çak ! prouve alors qu’un passé et un présent, se tapant dans la main, garantissent parfois au futur des rencontres riches en histoire et sensibilité.
