Marabout/So Lonely, mars 2020), l’anthropologue Juan José Martinez d’Aubuisson fait le récit de son année à vivre au cœur d’une communauté de la Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), au Salvador, l’un des gangs les plus violents d’Amérique Centrale. Ses dirigeants, ses petits fonctionnaires, ses repentis, ses traitres, ses victimes… Un peu plus au nord, du côté des États-Unis, la Californie du sud abrite de nombreux mexican gangsters. Des sureños, qui traduisent leur quotidien de bandits dans une musique incendiaire et poisseuse.
