And auspices struck hard once again. It was 2009. It was in a studio in Lathi, Finland. It was like a black’n’white fraternity, two mavericks fiercely battled in heaven. Tony Allen, the founding father of Afrobeat as Fela Kuti’s lieutenant, and Jimi Tenor the most African of polar flutists. Strut documented the encounter for his Inspiration/Information series. It’s ultra deeeeeeep, it’s full of jammed Afro sways. Dense, thick and heavy. Very playful too, a bit of a crook at last. Take, for example, Selfish Gene. This says it all. Kind of a myriad of solitary pleasure for most of us. Anti-quarantine as possible.
